| Alert: Possible California or High Country Special This VIN indicates it may be a California or High Country Special. Additional review of the car and it's build sheet may be required to verify this package. The California Special and High Country Special cars were appearance packages, and had no special performance upgrades over the base Mustang, although any engine option was possible for the package, including the 390 CID engine. The California and High Country Specials were regional options available for Mustang Coupes between 1966 and 1968. Consisting of special graphics and certain body upgrades, both packages were similar. The Califorina Specials (GT/CS) were available in California, while the High Country Specials (HCS) were produced for Colorado. 4118 GT/CS cars were produced, while only 251 HCS were made. See California Specials for more detailed information. | | Assembly: San Jose, CA The Ford Motor Company San Jose Assembly Plant was the automaker's primary Northern California manufacturing site after World War II.
The plant was located in Milpitas, California.
Numerous Ford vehicles were produced at the plant, including the Ford Mustang.
The site is now home to a large shopping center, the Great Mall of the Bay Area. | | Body: Mustang 1967 represented the first redesign for Mustang. The front grille kept the running pony in the corral, but vertical and horizontal bars returned, and the grille opening was enlarged. The side scoops, though non-functional, were designed as two smaller scoops with inlets and were painted the body color. Despite the body style change, coupes, fastbacks, and convertibles were still offered, but the fastback in 1967 extended fully to the rear, giving the car a beefier look than the shorter fastbacks used in 1965 and 1966. This was the first year the convertible model featured a two-pane glass rear window that folded down with the roof. It was also the last year of the 289 Hi-Po, but the first year for the 320-hp 390cid 4V V-8 and a 428cid engine used in the Shelby G.T. 500. The 1967 GT390 Fastback is my favorite Mustang. I want a blue one. 1967 was the only year for the GTA, which was a Mustang GT with an automatic transmission. They were available in coupe, fastback, or convertible and with either the 289 or 390 engine. | | Engine: 8 Cyl. 289 CID At introduction, the 289 CID two-barrel engine shared the spotlight with the 260 CID F-Code but offered an additional 46 HP and 29 CID. This over-bored version of the 260 generated 210 HP. Early production V-8 engines were equipped with generators instead of alternators. |
